# Coffee table and TV unit sizing: heights and proportions

How long a coffee table should be next to your sofa, how high, and how wide a TV unit needs to be for your screen, with real Enzo sizes.

## How long should a coffee table be?
A coffee table should be about two thirds the length of the sofa, so the sofa still looks larger than the table. For a 250 cm sofa, a table of about 160 cm is a good match, and it should never be longer than the sofa.
Our coffee tables are 110 cm long as standard and can be ordered from 90 to 140 cm, so you can match the table to the sofa you choose.

## How high should a coffee table be?
A coffee table should be about the same height as the sofa seat or 2 to 5 cm lower, which is usually 38 to 45 cm. A table higher than the seat feels like a barrier and is awkward for drinks.
Enzo coffee tables are 38 to 40 cm high.

## How far should the coffee table be from the sofa?
Leave 40 to 45 cm between the sofa and the table so you can reach it and still get past. If the table must sit closer, choose a narrower one, since the depth matters more than the length.
The depth of our tables is 60 to 110 cm: the shallower ones suit narrow rooms, and the deepest ones work as the centre of a large seating group.
In a small living room, choose a table that is shorter and shallower than you think, since you can always add a side table later.

## How wide should a TV unit be?
A TV unit should be at least as wide as the screen and ideally 30 to 50 cm wider, so the TV does not look as if it might tip off. Screens are wider than most people expect: a 55 inch TV is about 122 cm wide, a 65 inch about 144 cm and a 75 inch about 166 cm.
Enzo TV units are 170 to 250 cm long as standard, and the slider runs from 130 to 325 cm, so a unit can be cut to the width of the wall or the alcove.

## How high should a TV be, and what height should the unit be?
The middle of the screen should sit about at eye level when you are seated, usually 100 to 110 cm from the floor. A low unit of 50 to 60 cm puts a 55 or 65 inch TV at a comfortable height; a taller unit of 80 cm works only for a wall-mounted screen or with a smaller TV.
Our units are 50 to 80 cm high and 40 to 50 cm deep. Check that the depth leaves room for the TV base and the cables behind. A wider unit also gives space for a speaker bar or a console on each side.

## How do I match the table, the unit and the sofa?
Start with the sofa, size the table to it, then size the unit to the wall. If the sofa is 250 cm, the table is about 160 cm, and the unit is as wide as the wall allows while staying wider than the screen.
When the unit is on the opposite wall, leave the walkway between the sofa and the table so people can pass, and keep the top of the unit clear of anything that blocks the screen.
Think about the top as well: our coffee tables are red beech wood, and some have a marble or glass top. Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Use coasters, and wipe stone or glass with a damp cloth only.

## How far should the sofa be from the TV?
Sit about 1.5 to 2.5 times the screen diagonal away, so a 55 inch TV (140 cm) suits a distance of about 2.1 to 3.5 m. Add the depth of the coffee table and the walkway to see if your room allows it.
Put the three measurements together on the floor with tape before you order: the sofa, the table and the unit. If they fit together on the floor, they will fit in the room. It costs nothing, and it is the best protection against a table that turns out too big.
