# Made-to-order or ready-made furniture: an honest comparison

## What is the real difference between made-to-order and ready-made?
Ready-made furniture is built in advance in a few fixed sizes and sold from stock, while made-to-order furniture is built after you order, in the size and fabric you choose. The difference shows up in four places: fit, choice, waiting time and what happens if you change your mind.

## Which one fits my room better?
Made-to-order fits better, because you set the length to the centimetre instead of choosing the nearest standard size. A ready-made sofa that is a little too long or too short for the wall leaves an awkward gap or a cramped corner.
At Enzo the size slider moves in steps (25 cm on a typical sofa), so the sofa, bed or table can be matched to the room and to the stairs and lift it has to pass through.
The fit is also about proportion. A sofa that is the right length for its wall looks calm; one that is too short looks lost, and one that is too long looks forced.

## Do I get more choice of fabric?
Usually yes. A ready-made piece comes in the fabrics the shop stocked, in the colors that were made. Made-to-order means you pick the fabric after you decide the size. Enzo offers 14 fabrics in woven, boucle and velvet, and you can feel swatches at the showroom or ask for them on request.
Ready-made has one advantage here: you see the exact piece and its color in the shop before you buy, with no screen colors to guess from. To close that gap, visit the showroom or ask for real swatches before you decide.

## How long do I wait?
Ready-made wins on speed. You can often take it home within days, while a made-to-order piece takes 4 to 8 weeks from your deposit (6 to 8 weeks for sofas, 4 to 6 weeks for chairs). We message you at each stage of production.
If you need furniture this week, ready-made or a floor model is the right choice. If you can plan a month or two ahead, the wait is the price of the fit.

## Which is cheaper?
Ready-made is often cheaper for a standard size because the maker builds many identical pieces ahead of time. Made-to-order costs depend on the size and fabric you pick, and the price shown on the page updates as you choose, so you know the full price before you pay anything.
A piece that fits the first time also avoids the cost of replacing one that does not. Some fabric collections add a surcharge (Panda +8% and Tesla +6%), and it is shown before you pay.

## Which should I choose?
Choose ready-made when you need the furniture quickly, when you are renting and may move soon, or when you want to sit on and take home the exact piece. It is also sensible when your room has no unusual measurements and a standard size fits.
Choose made-to-order when the room or the route is an unusual size, when you want a specific fabric or color, or when you are furnishing a home you plan to keep for years. A piece cut to your wall also tends to look intended rather than squeezed in.
You can combine them too: buy a few quick ready-made things for the first weeks, and order the sofa and bed made to measure.

## What about returns and cancellations?
Ready-made furniture can often be exchanged within a short time. Because made-to-order is cut to your size, Enzo lets you cancel within 48 hours of your deposit and before production starts for a full refund of the deposit. After cutting or upholstery begins the deposit is not refundable.
You pay a 30% deposit to start and the balance on delivery, or pay in full online. If a piece arrives with a manufacturing fault, we repair or replace it. Think about your decision before the deposit, and use the 3D and AR view to see the piece at home first.
That is the honest trade: with made-to-order you carry a little more responsibility for the decision, and you get a piece that is yours in return.
