Bed sizes in Egypt: single, double, queen and king
The mattress sizes commonly sold in Egypt, how they relate to the real width and length of Enzo beds, and how much room to leave around the bed.

What are the standard bed and mattress sizes in Egypt?
Mattress sizes are not fixed by law in Egypt, so every maker differs by a few centimetres, but the common widths are 90 to 120 cm for a single, around 140 to 160 cm for a double, 160 cm for a queen and 180 to 200 cm for a king. Most mattresses are 190 or 200 cm long.
The names also change from shop to shop: one store’s double is another’s queen. Always compare centimetres, not names, and measure the mattress you already own or read the label on the one you plan to buy.
- Single: about 90 to 120 cm wide
- Double: about 140 to 160 cm wide
- Queen: about 160 cm wide
- King: about 180 to 200 cm wide
- Length: usually 190 or 200 cm
What sizes are Enzo beds?
The bed’s own width runs from 100 to 300 cm across the range, and its length from 200 to 225 cm, because the frame and headboard are wider and longer than the mattress that sits in it. The headboard height is 85 to 150 cm.
These are the standard measurements of each bed, and the width can be changed on the product page.
- Aura (double bed): 200 cm wide as standard, 160 to 240 cm on the slider, 215 cm long, headboard 85 cm
- Calm (double bed): 200 cm wide as standard, 160 to 240 cm on the slider, 220 cm long, headboard 90 cm
- Haven (double bed): 200 cm wide as standard, 160 to 240 cm on the slider, 225 cm long, headboard 150 cm
- Opal (double bed): 200 cm wide as standard, 160 to 240 cm on the slider, 215 cm long, headboard 90 cm
- Verde (double bed): 250 cm wide as standard, 225 to 300 cm on the slider, 225 cm long, headboard 115 cm
- Piccolo (single bed): 120 cm wide as standard, 100 to 150 cm on the slider, 200 cm long, headboard 100 cm
Which bed width fits which mattress?
Choose a bed that is wider and longer than the mattress by the thickness of the frame, so a 160 cm mattress needs a bed several centimetres wider than 160 cm. Which mattress a given frame takes depends on its design, so check this with a designer before you order.
Because the width is set to the centimetre, you can start from the mattress you have, add the frame allowance a designer gives you, and order the bed to match, instead of buying a standard bed and a mattress that nearly fits.
How much room should I leave around the bed?
Leave at least 60 to 75 cm on each side you walk along and at the foot of the bed, and 90 cm in front of a wardrobe so that its doors can open. Smaller gaps work, but making the bed or reaching a drawer becomes awkward.
Add the bed’s length and the walkway to find the minimum room depth. With beds that are 200 to 225 cm long, you need roughly 3 m of room length including a 70 cm walkway at the foot.
How wide should the side tables be?
A side table 40 to 50 cm wide on each side suits most beds. Add the two side tables to the bed width to get the minimum wall length: a bed that is 200 cm wide with two 45 cm tables needs a wall of about 290 cm, before the walkways.
If the wall is shorter than that, order a narrower bed or use one side table. Headboards on our beds are padded and stand up to 150 cm high, so check the height against any window or shelf behind the bed.
Which size should I choose: single, double or king?
Choose by who sleeps in the bed and how much floor you have, not by the name. A single suits a child’s room or a guest room, a double or queen suits most adult bedrooms, and a king suits a large room where the bed is the centre of the space.
Our single bed, the Piccolo, is 120 cm wide as standard. For a couple, a bed of at least 160 cm gives each person 80 cm, which is the width of a single bed.
Can I order a bed in a size that is not on the list?
Yes. Beds are made to order in Damietta and lead times are 5 to 7 weeks. For a width, length or headboard height outside the slider, message a designer through the custom design page.
